DAVENPORT, IA – On March 15, 2012, Ryan Knudsen, age 26, of Davenport, Iowa, was sentenced to 150 months of imprisonment for conspiracy to distribute cocaine, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. United States District Judge John A. Jarvey also sentenced Knudsen to serve 5 years of supervised release following his imprisonment and pay $100 to the Crime Victims Fund. On September 1, 2011, Knudsen entered a guilty plea in federal court for violating Title 21, United States Code, Section 846, for conspiring to distribute at least five hundred grams of cocaine from September 2009 through September 25, 2010.

Starting in 2009, the Davenport Police Department investigated a significant drug trafficking organization responsible for distributing large quantities of cocaine in the Davenport area. As part of their investigation, police conducted a controlled pay off of $1,600 to Knudsen to pay for a prior sale of cocaine. Police also learned from cooperating individuals that Knudsen purchased multiple ounce quantities of cocaine on a weekly basis, and had been doing so since 2008. During the course of the conspiracy, Knudsen distributed at least 5 kilograms of cocaine.

This case was investigated by the Davenport Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Iowa.
